Overview
I went to South Staffordshire College in Lichfield, where I did two years of Fashion & Textiles, leaving with a level 3 UAL and a Distinction grade
Journey project
The theme for this project was journey, I decided to go with the concept of a gender journey by creating an outfit that encapsulated the awakening of my androgyny, blending the worlds of male and female formal fashion.
Conkers Winter Wonderland 2020
This was the result of the Conkers collaboration, in which I had to upscale and embellish the top half of an elf costume, whilst my partner did the lower half of the costume.
Savage Beauty
In this project, I was tasked to create a look based off of one of the collections made by the legendary Alexander McQueen from his graduate collection to his final collection before his death in 2010. The collection I chose was his 2009 Autumn/Winter collection titled "The Horn of Plenty" due to my love of houndstooth and how theatrical it looks.
Mundane Beauty
For this project, I was tasked to make a bomber jacket whilst coming up with print inspiration simply from the studio floor. I used a combination of floor cracks, paint stains, shoeprints and caution tape to create a colourful combination of gradients and shapes, along with some extravagant caution tape fringe for the sleeves.
Leigh Bowery tribute
This was a garment I created as an homage to the club kidd legend Leigh Bowery, he was a big inspiration behind my fashion and many other fellow alternative fashion lovers. I used floral print to create a leotard with a matching skirt and facekini, which was another thing Leigh was known for.
Summer project
This is a garment I made during the summer break in between my 1st and 2nd year, I was given this colourful arty fabric and made a form fitting dress with an organza fishtail.
Conkers Winter Wonderland 2021
This was the second yearly collaboration with Conkers where I had to upcycle another elf costume, I can confidently say I had a lot more sewing and embellishing skills than last year.
Bauhaus
This was a garment inspired by the German art school known as Bauhaus, which ran from 1919 to 1933. My inspirations came from Wassily Kandinsky and Piet Mondrian to create this fishtail gown and matching caplet, incorperating a bit of androgyny as well.
Final major project "Clowning around"
This was my final major project, in which I had full creative freedom and got to choose my own concept and theme, I decided to base my project on clowns and the misconception about the outfits they wear. As a person who finds clowns oddly delightful I used a combination of baggy jumpsuits and victorian-esque fashion to create these two looks.
