Branford Storm Drain Art & Education is a project of the Town of Branford Engineering Department in collaboration with the Parks & Recreation Department, Public Works Department, the Office of Sustainability & Compliance, CT DEEP and JoAnn Moran of Lots of Fish.
Simple Design Simple Message
Storm drains can get clogged with litter or are mistakenly used for dumping!
Friendly messaging like "Only Rain in the Drain" or "Drains to River" help to keep our waters clean for swimming, fishing, and support a healthy habitat for wildlife.
Artsy messaging on the street . . can help reduce water pollution!
Artistic messaging to increase awareness of local water systems and inspire stewardship of our waterways.
Public awareness and education is an important part of creating positive change. Most people are either uninterested or uniformed about our built and natural water systems.
These projects seek to inspire interest, correct common misunderstandings and promote community ownership and action toward improving water quality for humans and local wildlife.
