In CHARGEnorth's makerspace, there is an old laser cutter that used CorelDraw, a laser cutting and engraving software.
Now though, a new laser, BossLaser, has been purchased by the school and the new laser uses the software Lightburn, a new software for all of the students in CHARGEnorth.
After Mr. Bradley had the whole class watch a couple of tutorial videos that he made, I started to work on my design, which had to be less than 3 in x 3 in (longer dimension).
This meant that I couldn't build something very structural, so I decided to go with a design that could function as a key chain: I chose to make a design that looked like Reshiram, a Pokémon.
There were four components to working the BossLaser other than using the software and leveling and aligning the laser head:
The Compressor
The Chiller
Turning on the Laser itself
The Fan
The design came out cleanly, considering that my design has a lot of curves and contours; that's when I learned that the laser would be very good, if not the best tool for very precise cutting jobs.
For every project that my engineering teacher assigns, he requires that I and other students create a "write-up", otherwise known as the documentation process. I mainly use Google Slides for my documentation, and here's a viewable version of one for this particular project.
