Two years ago, I worked in a small team to help create 'Kevins: A Village in the City.'
I fulfilled several roles such as co-director, sound recorder, camera-operator as well as an interviewer in this short documentary. It was my first taste in creating video and creating documentary content.
This documentary highlights the storied history and ongoing struggles of St.Kevins GAA club, the country's oldest, as they resist urban development encroaching on their green spaces.
This project was a turning point for me. Over the past two years, I've expanded my skills across directing, camera operation, and editing. 'Kevins' holds special importance to me as it showcases the real problems the people of the club face and continue to face two years later. This documentary also serves as a key part of my own personal journey as a media-maker, showing the earliest stages of my growth and development. It made me realise creating can be more than just art. It can make a difference.
