Hello! I'm Brandon Korn, a game designer based in Seattle, Washington. I recently graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Game Design and Development and minors in Computer Science and Creative Writing.
I am passionate about designing systems that bring players together, particularly tabletop games, trading card games, and RPGs. Over the past several years, I have worked on projects ranging from digital games to published tabletop products, including Space Raccoons, a multiplayer card game that successfully funded on Kickstarter and is currently in production.
I enjoy exploring game systems, analyzing player behavior, and refining mechanics through playtesting and iteration. Feel free to explore my projects below to learn more about my work and design process.
Space Raccoons is a 3-5 player set-collection card game that I designed alongside two other RIT students over the course of two years. I led the game's card design, mechanics, balance, and playtesting while helping guide it from an early paper prototype to a successfully funded Kickstarter campaign. The project taught me a tremendous amount about iterative design, publishing, and designing games around a strong core mechanic.
Living Lands is an original tabletop role-playing game that I developed with three other RIT students over the course of a semester. I focused on designing the game's core dice mechanics, symbiote system, Game Master tools, and documentation while helping build a unique fantasy setting centered around organic magic and exploration. The finished 67-page rulebook is freely available through DriveThruRPG.
Autumn Idle is a Unity idle game created during a weekend-long game jam by a team of five students. I designed and implemented the upgrade system, created the game's animations, and collaborated on gameplay systems while learning new Unity tools under a tight deadline. The project gave me valuable experience building a complete game from scratch in just a few days.
Changeling is a collaborative VR mystery game that I worked on as a Narrative Designer during a summer internship. Working alongside a six-person narrative team and dozens of designers, programmers, and artists, I helped write the game's dialogue, story structure, worldbuilding, and design documentation while learning how narrative design must adapt to gameplay, pacing, and player interaction.
For over seven years, I have designed and run long-form Dungeons & Dragons campaigns for groups of friends, creating original settings, encounters, monsters, and adventures. Running weekly campaigns has become one of the biggest influences on my design philosophy, teaching me how to balance systems, read player engagement, iterate from feedback, and create experiences that encourage memorable moments around the table.
