The Route

Cancelled

The tracks cut through beautiful undulating countryside, much of which is wooded. Most of the route is generally downhill, but save some energy for the short steep climb after you cross the river Deerness just over a mile from the end. After that its gently uphill to Brandon.

The route follows disused railway tracks from Lanchester Green, south east along the Browney Valley towards Durahm and curves towards the south west past Baxter Wood. Follow the cycle route along the Deerness valley railway track to Broom park picnic area then turn left downhill signposted to the Bishop Brandon railway line towards Brandon. To make it 9 miles it will be routed outside of the cricket field on the playing fields between Meadowfield and Brandon to finish by the entrance to Brandon Sports club.

The route is mainly on national cycle routes, and is well surfaced. It finishes on grass.
