brakence’s second album, hypochondriac, was released on December 2nd, 2022 by the singer-songwriter. It was his first release since he signed with Columbia Records in 2021.
The record was teased in the run-up to the presumed first single on Twitter, with the caption “bloomtodeath.” This led many listeners to believe the album would bear the same name.
A week later, brakence teased the first single from the album, “argyle,” which was teased in an equally cryptic video posted on social media. The single was released on October 8, 2021.
Two months would pass before brakence would announce another single called “cbd.” The track was released on January 21, 2022, with an accompanying music video produced by comingofage.
For subsequent singles, cryptic “broadcasts” were uploaded to Soundcloud featuring a voiceover and a brief teaser. On July 6, 2022, brakence posted extraction 003, which was released the following day, July 7, 2022. A music video was released the same day.
On September 8, 2022, brakence uploaded an urgent request on Soundcloud. The following day, September 9, 2022, brakence released “caffeine,” where its music video premiered the same day.
The final single, “bugging!”, was released on November 18th, 2022 – along with the name and release date of the album. The track was infamously leaked on SoundCloud many months before its official release, however, many lyrics and other elements were changed between the leaked version and the official version.(Source: genius.com)
