• October is BPS College & Career Month in the Boston Public Schools! This marks an exciting month of events and activities designed to encourage and to empower all students and their families to begin planning for a passion-filled life after high school as early as possible. 

• Throughout October, BPS and Success Boston, along with multiple community partners, will collaborate on a campaign to encourage students at all grade levels to begin planning for college and their career. 

• The goal of BPS College & Career Month in Boston is to showcase all of the city’s varied and helpful resources designed to get students prepared for, enrolled in, and through college.

• College Pride Day is Friday, October 3, 2025!

Highlights and Themes: 

• BPS College & Career Month aligns with the BPS Vision of a Graduate, highlighting skills and competencies in and out of the classroom. This initiative helps students chart their post-secondary paths to success.

• The campaign supports the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s statewide efforts to prepare students for success after high school.

• With the expansion of the City of Boston’s Tuition-Free Community College (TFCC) Plan for all Boston residents, including undocumented and DACA-status residents, and other resources like MassReconnect, it’s more important than ever for families to understand available opportunities.

• For 2025,  the College & Career Month team will again partner with BPS student ambassadors to promote events and resources through social media. This peer advocacy helps students gain perspective on career possibilities.

The 2025 Themed Weeks Are:

• Week 1: Connecting My Skills & Interests to Future Plans (September 29-October 3)

• Week 2: Exploring Secondary and Postsecondary Pathways (October 6-10)

• Week 3: College Affordability & Financial Literacy (October 13-17) 

• Week 4: STEAM Week (October 20-24)

• Week 5: Internship & Job Readiness Week (October 27-31)

Key Dates: 

• College Pride and “Share Your Why” Day on Friday October 3 - all day! Encourage students, staff, and the community to wear college colors and share photos on social media. Follow our social media accounts for videos, stories, graphics, and more: @SuccessBoston on Facebook and @Success.Boston on Instagram and use the hashtags #BPSCollege Month and #BPSCollegePride

• Building Brides HBCU College Fair on Thursday, October 1 from 9 AM - 2 PM at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center. To attend the College Fair, please complete the registration form at the link below to secure your spot:  Register Here

• The College, Career & STEM Fair on Saturday, October 18  from 10 AM - 1:00 PM at the Reggie Lewis Track & Athletic Center. The goal of the Fair is to showcase all of the city’s varied and helpful resources designed to get students prepared for, enrolled in, and through college. This year there will be 150 exhibitors, ranging from local colleges and universities to employers offering internship opportunities, STEM agencies, and organizations in the city offering free college prep services.

• FAFSA/MASFA Prep Day in BPS on Tuesday October 21 - all day! Focus on FAFSA resources and financial aid tips to help students prepare for the December FAFSA launch.
