This school year, Blue Planet will be hosting our first annual Smart Strips in Schools Campaign. This program is for 3rd-6th grade classes, runs across 4-weeks, and comprised of four clean energy challenges. Students will break up into small groups within their class, complete the challenges, receive prizes from Blue Planet for each completed challenge, and compete to get their challenge product selected for the "Finals". A tracker will be provided for each class for easy recording. After the completion of the four challenges, teachers will submit the each challenge winner (4 total) to Blue Planet where all the top winners from across the state will compete for top honors. We will provide a breakdown for how to run each creative activity so you will be able to apply them in your class!
The campaign will consist of four weekly challenges for students to complete. These challenges will provide students with the opportunity to become immersed with Hawaii’s goal for a 100% clean energy future, and will be centered around:
- Storytelling: Sharing your own, the community, and the state’s stories about the need for change and Hawaii’s journey towards energy independence.
- Powerful Policy: Advocacy and awareness around bills that drive clean energy.
- Impactful Action that gets people involved to make changes for a cleaner future.
We will be sending out weekly email updates with the challenges and will also include these updates on this page.
We look forward to working with Hawai’i’s clean energy advocates! Please let us know if you have any questions.
