Privacy Policy for BP Buddy

BP Buddy (“we,” “us,” or “the App”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information BP Buddy collects, how it is used, and your choices regarding that information.
No Personally Identifiable Information
BP-Buddy does not collect your full name, email, phone number, address, or any other directly identifying details.
We only store (all kept locally on your device):
Blood pressure readings: systolic, diastolic, pulse, notes, tags and timestamp.
Journal entries: free-form text (up to 500 characters) with date/time and tags.
Quick tags: symptom, lifestyle, and timing tags you apply to readings.
Optional profile settings: such as date of birth (age), sex, height/weight, blood pressure, and cuff preference
Notification preferences: whether and when you opt-in to local reminders.
All data remains on your device and is used only to:
Display your readings, charts, trends, and personalised insights.
Save and load your journal entries and tags.
Schedule and manage local reminders you opt into.
Enable export features (CSV/PDF) when you choose to create reports that you save into your device's local file storage to either retain or share with your health care professional.
BP Buddy does not transmit your readings or notes off-device unless you explicitly export them.
No sharing for marketing or advertising. We do not sell, rent, or share your health data with advertisers or other third parties.
No cloud backup or sync. Unless you manually export your data, nothing is stored on any server, when you manually export your data, you take ownership of where you store the data.
Analytics and Crash Reporting. BP Buddy does, as of 16 May 2025, now include the use of analytics and crash reporting via the Firebase Analytics SDK. Through Firebase Analytics, we are able to better understand user behaviour in the app allowing us to make better decisions about product optimisation. This data is non-personally identifying and is only used for the purposes of further improving BP Buddy.
Apple Health & Google Fit: There is currently no integration. All readings stay in-app.
Notifications: If you opt in, we use local notifications to remind you to log your readings.
No other permissions (camera, location, contacts, etc.) are requested or used.
Export anytime: Use the built-in CSV/PDF export to save your data. Exports occur entirely on your device.
Erase all data: In Settings → Data, tap “Erase All” to permanently delete your readings, journal entries, and tags. This action cannot be undone.
BP Buddy is not intended for use by children under age 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
Any health-related information you enter remains on your device and in your chosen personal storage. We recommend you use an encrypted personal storage but once a file has been generated, BP Buddy has no responsibility when you store the data on an external service. We do not use or sell your health data for medical purposes or diagnostics.
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. When we do, we’ll change the “Effective Date” above and surface the update in the app so you can review any changes.
