BACKGROUND

Battle of the boxes also known as: BOXWARS, was first held on the 26th of January, 2002 in Melbourne Australia by the "Grand-creative leaders" Hoss Siegal and Ross Koger. Having realized the brilliant engineering properties exhibited by cardboard, Hoss Siegal and Ross Koger crafted incredible range of battle gears from cardboards which were later used as a showcase in a monumental battle.

Boxwars, has since then thrived across the world to include: the construction of exceptionally large engineering marvels and other huge recycled sculptures using cardboards, which calls for communal creativity and celebration.

Accordingly, "Dr. Elsie Effah Kaufmann" a lecturer at the University of Ghana who at that point was handling a design class, came across an exciting video showing on TV which was on the warfare themed event BOXWARS. Knowing the relevance and being excited about it, she then decided to hire her renowned group of design experts "DESIGN CLASS OF 2019", to organize the maiden edition of the event in Ghana which was held on the 1st of May, 2019 at the University of Ghana (School of Engineering premises).
