​We are very proud of our private lesson staff that supports the Bowie Band. We strongly encourage all students to participate in this program. Private lessons provide one-on-one personalized curriculum to help students improve at the fastest rate possible.

A key to the success of our band program over the years has been a very high rate of participation in private lessons. This is a district wide program that provides a high quality enhancement to classroom instruction. Most of our teachers are professional musicians in the Houston area and have advanced degrees in the performance of their instruments. Lessons are extremely valuable to the individual student. Students are taught at a pace that suits them. Students who are excelling in class may be given extra material or be taught how to get to that “next level,” while students who need extra help can receive this help in their lesson (which does NOT replace the availability of the band directors to help students during class). Students who get the most out of their private lesson experience are also diligent about practicing outside of class and their lessons on a consistent basis.
