INEQUALITIES are the relationships between two expressions that are not equal to one another. The symbols used for inequalities are <, >, ≤, ≥ and ≠.
不等式 指的是两个表达式之间不相等的关系。
用于表示不等关系的符号包括 <、>、≤、≥ 和 ≠
<, 'LESS THAN'
>, 'GREATER THAN'
≤, 'LESS THAN OR EQUAL TO'
≥ 'GREATER THAN OR EQUAL TO'
≠, 'NOT EQUAL TO
--INEQUALITIES ON A NUMBER LINE--
Inequalities can be shown on a number line.
"Start at the number stated....
...If the number is less than or greater than
Draw an 'OPEN CIRCLE' and add a short arrow in the correct direction
E.g. 'x > -3'
E.g. 'x < 3'
...If the number is less than or equal to and greater than or equal to
Draw an 'CLOSED CIRCLE' and add a short arrow in the correct direction
E.g. 'X ≥ -2'
E.g. 'X ≤ 4'
...If the number is between two numbers, it's a 'DOUBLE INEQUALITY'
E.g. '-2 ≥ X < 3'
Below is the excel formula used to determine your assessment math grade. It is based on your raw score out of 55. you can see that to score an 'A+' you need to get '>=49' or ≥ '49', meaning 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, 54, or 55,
"What' the minimum score needed to avoid a D+?"
--TASK--
"Next year you will be starting your IGCSE. Any idea what % you need to get an A*, A, B, and C in your favourite subject?" "Click on this LINK and find your favourite subject, then choose a paper option and its grade threshold. I chose IGCSE Economics, and...
...option P1 (It's a MCQ).
Finally, turn the thresholds into double inequality ranges:
E.G., For IGCSE Econ, option 'P1':
78/90 = ('78 ≥ A* ≤ 90')
69/90 = ('69 ≥ A ≤ 77')
60/90 = ('60 ≥ B ≤ 78')
51/90 = ('51 ≥ C ≤ 59')
