The 8th World Conference on Computing and Communication Technologies (WCCCT 2025) Successfully Opens in Shenzhen
In the digital era of ubiquitous connectivity, the deep integration of computing and communication technologies is reshaping the operational paradigm of modern society. From the empowerment of diverse industries by 5G, to AI redefining the boundaries of productivity; from breakthroughs in quantum computing, to the data potential unlocked by edge computing—each leap forward in technology brings us closer to the future. Against this backdrop, WCCCT 2025 offers a vital platform for researchers and practitioners to share cutting-edge achievements and practical insights, driving both innovation and industrial transformation in the computing and communication fields.
On April 12, 2025, the 8th World Conference on Computing and Communication Technologies (WCCCT 2025) officially opened in Shenzhen. This year’s conference is jointly organized by IEEE and Shenzhen University, with Shenzhen University's College of Electronics and Information Engineering (CEIE) serving as the main host. The event is co-organized by Sichuan Normal University, Xihua University, Warsaw University of Technology (Poland), Ocean University of China, and Gannan Normal University. Technical support is provided by Université de Haute-Alsace (France), Okayama University (Japan), Qinghai University of Technology, and the Sichuan Provincial Key Laboratory of Wireless Sensor Networks for Colleges and Universities. The conference is sponsored by Shanghai Nebo Electronic Technology Co., Ltd.
Nearly 140 scholars, technical experts, and young researchers from countries including China, Poland, Italy, Japan, France, Greece, Singapore, and Canada gathered to exchange ideas on technological innovations and applications in high-performance computing, machine learning, and intelligent communication networks. They explored the latest developments and future trends shaping the field.
The three-day conference featured a diverse range of academic activities, including keynote sessions, poster presentations, and paper discussions. On April 11—the day before the official opening—participants toured the Shenzhen University History Museum and the State Key Laboratory of Radio Frequency Heterogeneous Integration. These visits offered an immersive experience into the university’s academic legacy and its cutting-edge research achievements.
The official opening ceremony on the morning of April 12 was chaired by Professor Botao Feng of Shenzhen University, who played a central role in organizing and steering the entire conference. As a leading expert in the field of wireless communication and antenna technologies, Professor Feng and his team at CEIE led the planning and coordination efforts, ensuring the event’s success and international reach.
Professor Peichang Zhang, Vice Dean of CEIE at Shenzhen University, delivered a warm welcome address. He extended his greetings to all attendees visiting Shenzhen—the innovation capital of China—and provided an overview of CEIE’s development, which has been strongly supported by the State Key Laboratory of RF Heterogeneous Integration and its two key disciplines: Information and Communication Engineering (a Guangdong Province Peak Discipline) and Electronic Science and Technology. He expressed his hopes that WCCCT would serve as a catalyst for global academic exchange and collaborative innovation in the computing and communication sectors.
Following the opening, Professor Krzysztof Szczypiorski of Warsaw University of Technology emphasized that WCCCT is not just an academic gathering, but also a platform fostering in-depth collaboration between researchers and industry professionals around the world.
The keynote sessions featured prominent experts, including:
Prof. Jiangzhou Wang (Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, IEEE Fellow, Southeast University), who presented on Target Localization in Cooperative ISAC Systems, highlighting the efficiency of integrating sensing into communication systems.
Prof. Min Chen (IEEE Fellow, South China University of Technology), who discussed Fine-tuning Large Language Models (LLMs)—its principles, opportunities, and challenges.
Prof. Chow-Yen-Desmond Sim (IEEE Fellow, Feng Chia University, Taiwan), who delivered insights into Commercial 5G mmWave Antenna-in-Package (AiP) Design, elaborating on current trends and technical challenges.
Prof. Qingsheng Zeng (Université du Québec en Outaouais, Canada), who explored mmWave Signal Propagation in Indoor and Underground Environments, offering valuable implications for improving communication quality in complex settings.
In addition to the keynote speeches, 23 invited talks were delivered by leading academics such as Prof. Yonghua Li (Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications), Prof. Hao Zhang (Michigan State University), Prof. Guolin Zhong (Guangzhou Institute of Technology), Prof. Botao Feng (Shenzhen University), Prof. Yindong Xiao (University of Electronic Science and Technology of China), Prof. Xingquan Wang (Gannan Normal University), and Prof. George C. Polyzos (The Chinese University of Hong Kong).
The conference also hosted nine on-site parallel sessions, four online sessions, and two poster exhibitions. Key themes included:

Renewable energy networks and integrated space-air-ground-sea networks
These discussions reflected the field’s interdisciplinary nature and rapid evolution.
Over the past eight years, WCCCT has grown into a premier academic platform for doctoral students and early-career researchers to exchange ideas and foster collaboration. The successful convening of WCCCT 2025, under the leadership of Prof. Botao Feng and his team, has significantly enhanced academic dialogue among academia, industry, and research sectors. The novel theories and technologies presented during the conference are expected to inspire future breakthroughs in the computing and communication domains.
