Freedom is one of the most exciting and valuable opportunities your library can offer students. But it can feel intimidating to allow students space to exercise and practice this freedom. This session aims to equip you with the confidence and strategies necessary to support students to grow in their self-management skills. We will also consider when and how to respond to behaviors that violate community norms in ways that lead to learning and preserve positive relationships.

Session Description:  

Mental health activist and influencer Tony Weaver, Jr. has always called himself the weird kid. In his debut graphic novel Weirdo, he’s written what he calls the nerdy kid’s instruction manual for self-love and self-confidence, an unforgettable memoir chronicling his journey to accepting the things that make him weird.
