Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may be used with the antibiotics

Doxycycline is most preferred as it penetrates the central nervous system however cefuroxime is effective and may be used for patients that are allergic to penicillin or doxycycline. Azithromycin can also be used but it is much less effective.
