My name is Manda Kassel. I was born in Montana, but raised here, in Fairbanks. I attended local schools and graduated from UAF in 2000 with my teaching degree and Masters of Ed. in 2007. With 22 years teaching in the North Pole area, I have had the opportunity to incorporate the outdoors as an integral component of my teaching and philosophy for learning. Activities including camping at Twin Bears for years with my classes, hiking, raising salmon eggs through Fish and Game, ice fishing, trips to Creamer’s Field and hiking Wickersham Dome, I’ve come to appreciate what Alaska has to offer me as an educator and especially, the young people I have the privilege of working with. I am looking forward to spending more time outdoors with kids this summer!
I am a life long learner and enjoyer of all things outdoors. I have been a teacher for 17 years (15 with FNSBSD, but recently stepped away from the traditional classroom setting to start Boreal Tutoring). I am certified with the state of Alaska and hold a Masters in Education. I also am still in employment with FNSBSD as a substitute (this means I pass background checks and all that jazz). You can learn more about me on other pages of this site. Just know, I am here to teach your kid cool stuff and make sure they are safe, comfortable, and having a good time.
More info about drop off details, times, policies, and all that good stuff will be provided after sign up. If you have any questions please email me at rosevearke@gmail.com or call/text at 907-699-3899.
