Sunday 24th February 2019 - St. Asaph Cathedral
On a beautifully sunny day the choir sang at the Eucharist service and at Evensong at St. Asaph Cathedral. Mass setting was Schubert in G and the anthem O Magnum Mysterium -Victoria . The setting for evensong was Walmisley in D Minor with the Rose responses, the introit 'If ye love me' - Thoamas Tallis and the anthem - 'The Heavens are Telling' from Haydn's Creation. Geoffrey Walker played the organ.

The choir sang Evensong. The introit was Christ is Erstanden by J. S.Bach. The setting for evensong was by Simon Davies, the responses by R B Williams and the anthem was Wesley's Blessed be the God & Father. Stewart Smith was organist.

St Ostwalds Malpas
The choir put on a varied evening of American music under the title of 'Americana' .
The audience was entertained by a programme that included well known spirituals as well as works by Gershwin and Copeland.
Sunday 10 April
Chester Cathedral
The choir sang at Eucharist, the annual Baby Loss/Memorial Service and Evensong, accompanied by Geoffrey Walker on the organ. The Mass setting was Schubert in G, the communion motet was Victoria Ad caenam agni providi. The anthem for the Baby Loss Service was Stanford Beati Quorum Via. At Evensong, the responses were R. B. Williams, the anthem Bainton I saw a new heaven, the canticle setting was Dyson in D.

St. Alkmund's, Whitchurch
A Ceremony of Carols was the title of this concert with harp and organ accompanying the choir. It comprised works by five British composers: Britten, Holst, Mathias, Rutter and Vaughan Williams.
Sunday 12 July
Colemere Church
The first half of the programme included a number of madrigals, two duets (music byHarry Parr Davies and Purcell) and a solo (Britten) and some English Romantic Partsongs. In the second half, the choir sang the Faure Requiem.

The choir sang at the Eucharist service and at Evensong at St. Asaph Cathedral. The mass setting was Mozart Missa Brevis with the anthem Victoria O Vos Omnes. The introit for evensong was Durufle Ubi Caritas, the responses were by R. B. Williams, the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis setting was Dyson in D, the anthem was Faure Cantique de Jean Racine. Geoffrey Walker played the organ.

St. Mary's, Tilston
A passiontide concert entitled From Triumph to Tragedy portraying the dramatic events in the last days of Jesus Christ with music, readings and poetry. Music included extracts from Handel's Messiah, Stainer's Crucifixion, Bach's St. Matthew Passion together with bittersweet and beautiful pieces by Byrd, Victoria, Bruckner, Lotti, Gibbons and Durufle.

Saturday 22 November
St. Oswald's, Malpas
The concert titled "In Time of War" commemorated WW1. The choir was accompanied by Geoffrey Walker at the organ and the Salop Band. The programme opened with Haydn's dramatic anthem: Insane et vanae curae. The Salop Band played Britten Simple Symphony for String Ensemble. The choir sang 1914, Alan Gray's moving settings of war poems, written by the war poet Rupert Brooke. The main choral work was the Haydn Mass in Time of War, also known as the Kettledrum Mass.

A concert celebrating the history of the house and some of its inhabitants. The concert will feature a viol consort to accompany some of the pieces. MAdrigals from The Triumphs of Oriana, Dowloand consort songs, music for viol consort, Victorian part-songs and Britten's Dances from Gloriana.

2012 Events.....
Malpas, Saturday 20 October at 7.30pm
This autumn, the Border Singers make a welcome return to the stunning church of St. Oswald's in the South Cheshire market town of Malpas. On this occasion the Border Singers will again be joined by their regular orchestra, the Shropshire Sinfonia, leader Clare Horgan. The organist will be Border Singers' regular concert accompanist, Geoffrey Walker.
The programme will include all four of Handel's Coronation anthems, including Zadok the Priest. Also in the programme will be Vivaldi's Gloria - a popular choice for choir and audience alike.
Paul Mealor was commissioned by Making Music to write a work for amateur choirs to mark the Queen's Jubilee. The work was only published in late August, so this concert is one of the first performances of this attractive little piece. By popular request, we are including a performance of Parry's "I was glad".

J.S. Bach - St. John Passion
Join us in Tilston for a performance of one of the great choral works: Bach's masterful St. John Passion. The Evangelist tells the story of the Passion, whilst soloists act out parts of the drama and the choir are in turn commentators, spectators, the fickle crowd, or reflectors on the unfolding events.

For this fabulous concert, we have not one but two Schimmel concert grand pianos. The version using two pianos is Brahms' own version. We will be joined by Sue Tyson who is a well-known soloist in the area and Louis Hurst, an up and coming young baritone.
Sunday 17th April 2011 - St. Mary's, Tilston
The Border Singers performed Faure's Requiem in Tilston church at a Passiontide concert. Cheshire is blessed with many small medieval churches built in the characteristic local red sandstone and St. Mary's is a charming example of one of them. The concert was a simple event with the choir accompanied on the organ by the Border Singer's regular accompanist, Geoffrey Walker, and soloists were drawn from the choir.

The annual Christmas concert by invitation of the Friends of Tabley House.
Saturday 16th October 2010 - St. Oswald's, Malpas
The Border Singers returned to one of their favourite venues, the wonderful medieval church of St. Oswald's in Malpas in south Cheshire. The programme included a full performance with orchestra of Faure's Requiem, three motets by Henry Purcell and the orchestra played Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 in G.

The Border Singers sang at the main services at Lichfield Cathedral: the morning Communion Service and Evensong in the afternoon.

Saturday 7th November 2009 - Chester Cathedral
Our most ambitious concert ever! The Border Singers were invited by Nantwich Choral Society to join forces for a stupendous performance of Elgar's great choral masterpiece, Dream of Gerontius. The following were involved:

The Lydian Singers provided the semi-chorus.
There was a full symphony orchestra and the organ of Chester Cathedral to provide accompaniment, together with a full cast of soloists.
This was a rare opportunity to hear this work performed.

This was a reprise of the previous Elgar concert, this time hosted by Romsey Choral Society. The venue was the magnificent Norman Abbey in Romsey, Hampshire.

Charity concert in support of Macmillan Nurses
A concert of lighter music for a summer's evening featuring the Border Singers and spot-lighting some of our members in solo items.
Venue will be Sir John Talbot School in Whitchurch.
Ticket price will include a cheese and wine reception.
Saturday 4th April 2009 - Whitchurch - Music for Passiontide The father of the symphony and classical music died in 1809. Haydn was tutor to both Mozart and Beethoven, so his importance cannot be underestimated.
The Border Singers will be helping to celebrate this important anniversary with an evening of Haydn's choral music. The venue is St. Alkmunds church in Whitchurch, Shropshire. The Border Singers will again be accompanied by the Shropshire Sinfonia and Geoffrey Walker on the organ.

Sunday 14th December 2008 – Whitewell
The Border Singers will be providing musical support to the Carol Service at Whitewell near Whitchurch. As well as leading everyone in some favourite seasonal music, the choir will sing an interesting array of music some old and some very new! The service starts at 6.30pm.
