Feyre Archeron is a former mortal who lived in the human realm. Her family used to be rich because her father was the King of Merchants. Everything soon changed & they were left poor for eight years. Feyre was the only one of three sisters, Nesta & Elain, who hunted for their food so they could survive. 

Rhysand is the High Lord of the Night Court. His father was previously the High Lord & was also High Fae. Rhysand's mother was an Illyrain woman, who managed not to get her wings clipped when she started menstruating. Rhysan's mother & father were mates but his mother did not love his father. Rhysand also had a sister. His mother & sister were killed by Tamlin's father & his father was killed in the war 500 years ago. Since Rhysand is half Illyrian, he was sent to train with the other Illyrian males by his mother. Rhysand quicly became friends with Cassian & Azriel in the Illyrian training camps. Rhysand chooses to be good in secret, which is the opposite of his father who was known to be notoriously bad.

Tamlin is the High Lord of the Spring Court. His entire family - mother, father, and two brothers - were killed by Rhysand & Rhysand's father. Like Rhysand's father, Tamlin's father was previously High Lord, but of the Spring Court. Tamlin's father also ruled the Spring Court very nasty & when the war came around, he sided with the faeries to kill the humans. Tamlin aspired to never be like his father when his reign was to take place. Tamlin also never planned to reign but since his entire family was killed, he had no other choice.

Nesta Archeron is the daughter of the King of Merchants & is the oldest Archeon sister. When her family fell poor, Nesta grew to hate her father because he did nothing to help him, & was the reason that they fell poor. Nesta was very protective of Elain rather than Feyre. Nesta never offers to help Feyre & often belittles her.

Elain Archeron is the middle daughter to the King of Merchants. Elain has a fondness for gardening & like Nesta, does not do anything to help take care of their family while they are poor. Elain gives off the energy that she is innocent & has no idea what is going on in their lives or even offers to help. 

Cassian is an Illyrian member of the Night Court. He is also part of Rhysand's Inncr Circle. Cassian is the son of an Illyrian war-camp laundress & an unknown warrior who raped his mother. Soon after his mother weaned him, he was left in a war-camp for training. Since Cassian was a bastard, receieved nothing & was forced to find food, shelter, & clothes for himself. Rhysand later joined the camp & decided to tell his mother about Cassians situation. Rhysand's mother took him in & Rhysand & Cassian have been friends ever since.

Azriel is an Illyrian & member of the Night Court. He is the spymaster shadowsinger of Rhysand & belongs to his Inner Circle. Azriel is the bastand son of an Illyrian lord & for eleven years he lived with his father, step-mother, & two older half-brothers. Azriel was often left out as a child while his mother & brothers were spoiled. Azriel was neglected by his family & was kept in a cell with no windows or light. He was only allowed to see his mother for an hour a week & was not allowed to train or fly, even when his Illyrian insticts urged him. When he was eight years old, Azriel's older brothers lit him on fire for fun, his father's warriors saved him but were not able to stop the burning on his hands, leaving his hands scarred. At the age of eleven, he was dumped into the same Illyrian war camp as Rhysand & Cassian. Rhysand's mother eventually also took in Azriel & the boys have been inseperable ever since.

Morrigan, shorted to Mor by her friends, is a member of Rhysand's Inner Circle & is Rhysand's Third-in-Command of the Night Court. Morrigan is the court overseer & looks over the dynamics between the Court of Nightmares & the Court of Dreams, running both Velaris & Hewn City. Before Rhysand's family ran the Night Court, Morrigan's family ran it. While growing up, she was strong & powerful & her family could feel that she was stronger than most of the family. Mor was sold into marriage to Eris Vanserra, the eldest son of the High Lord of the Autumn Court. Rhysand took Mor to an Illyrian war-camp where he was stationed. Mor has remained par of the Night Court ever since.

Amren is a High Fae who lives in Velaris. She is the Second-in-Command to Rhysand & is part of his Inner Circle. Amren is an extremely powerful creature of unknown origins & a former imate of the Prison. She is said to have escaped after a millennia long imprisonment by giving up "her grace & perfect mortality" to bind herself & her soul into a High Fae body thys being Made. Amren is said to be older than Prythian & had slipped into the cracks of Prythian as it was being created.

Lucien is the son of the Lady of the Autumn Court & Beron, High Lord of the Autumn Court. Lucien grew up in the Autumn Court, but never cared much about his nobility. He made friends with individuals of different Courts & with individuals from non-aristocratic backgrounds. After Lucien fell in love with a lesser faerie, his father killed her & Lucien left the Autumn Court to reside in Spring Court, where he would become Tamlin's emissary.
