The competent teacher structures a safe and healthy learning environment that facilitates cultural and linguistic responsiveness, emotional well-being, self-efficacy, positive social interaction, mutual respect, active engagement, academic risk-taking, self-motivation, and personal goal-setting.
The following artifact was created Spring of 2019 while I attended Trinity Christian College. It was produced as a means to best communicate with both Parent/Guardian and Students of the expectations for the upcoming term. The following artifact touches upon classroom expectations, classroom management, classroom procedures, Instructional style and educational resources. It also contains objectives students will learn from taking the class and encouragement to keep guardians involved in their students educational journey.
As I continue in my studies and extensive research, I truly believe in challenging students appropriate to their grade level and build on their knowledge through cooperative learning groups. We all learn best from one another and I believe this reflects well with Performance indicator 4C which states, “understanding how to help students work cooperatively and productively in groups.” It is a goal of mine to promote healthy relationships amongst students and actively build on the importance and appreciation of cultural diversity. It allows for students to learn the value of an equitable society. Mutual respect is reiterated throughout lessons and classroom culture to facilitate the IPTS goal 4J which states “ creates clear expectations and procedures for communication and behavior and a physical setting conducive to achieving classroom goals.”
While creating this artifact I have learned the importance in having multiple ways in communicating with my students and parent/guardians. With technology being highly immense in our culture it is important to stay current with curriculum and content, but also keeping the parents/guardians of the students in the center of it all! With each lesson I plan to focus highly on my formative assessment to ensure content is being understood but also modeling a growth mindset in not only education but life in general. Our students are the future and the website listed below shows just how much I enjoy the career path I have chosen!
