Programs
You can get involved! Learn more about PTA & School programs and access our volunteer signups below. You are welcome to attend a General PTA Meeting at the school if you are interested in participating or giving feedback on any of the programs we sponsor. Please check the calendar for times and locations.
Student Development
Part of the purpose of PTA is to provide opportunities for the students that they might not otherwise have ... to help them "realize their full potential". In particular, we focus on the arts and individual development.
Reflections
PTA Reflections is a national PTA program that gives students the opportunity to explore and submits works of visual, performing, and language arts.
Each year many students in Utah are recognized for superior talents on the National Level.
If you are passionate about the arts and would like to help coordinate and carry out the Reflections program at Bonneville, contact us at BonnevillePTAorem@gmail.com.
Storytelling Festival
Each student is encouraged to tell a story to their classmates. The ‘best in class’ tells their stories to their grade level, and the best of those share their stories in a school assembly.
Our Storytelling Festival has moved up in the calendar so that those students participating can move on to the regional "Timp Tell Contest".
If you would like to help coordinate the Storytelling festival, contact us at BonnevillePTAorem@gmail.com.
Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books is a school program that PTA supports by providing funding and volunteers.
Interested students will be part of teams of 3rd & 4th grade students, or 5th & 6th grade students. Each team will read from the book list of 20 total books. In March, teams will come together for a game show- style tournament where they will work as teams to answer questions about the books from the list.
Home Reading Program
The school runs a Home Reading Program that provides students with reading-level-appropriate books to read at home. This is a school program that is supported by PTA volunteers who go to the school each morning and switch the books that have been read out and select new books to go home.
We need lots of volunteers to help switch books. With 4 volunteers, switching the books for the entire school takes about 30 minutes. Then, in the afternoon, a volunteer is needed to come and just switch books for the two afternoon kindergarten classes (takes about half an hour). Volunteers commit to come in weekly.
Community Involvement
The goal of PTA is to bring the community together in support of the Students at Bonneville. This means bringing together local businesses, families, and school personnel.
Bronco Day Carnival
Families are invited to come together to celebrate, mingle and support our local PTA & school! This has become an annual tradition involving the entire community. Contact us at BonnevillePTAorem@gmail.com if you would like to help plan and carry out the event.
Savers Clothing Drive
Encourages community involvement in collecting clothing that can be shared with other families in our community.
Left-over clothing is donated to Savers, and Savers pays for the fabric by the pound.
Our clothing drive will be held on April 23rd from 9am-12pm at the school.
Family STEAM Fair
The STEAM Fair is a fun event that encourages family involvement and provides an inside look into the STEAM curriculum & activities.
If you would like to run a booth or otherwise be involved, contact us at BonnevillePTAorem@gmail.com.
Our STEAM Fair will be held on March 21 from 6-7:30pm at the school.
Family Restaurant Nights
Join us for our monthly Family Night at a local restaurant and they will donate a percentage of their profits to our PTA. When you place your order, tell them you are with Bonneville Elementary. Just another "painless" way to earn money for our PTA!
Health & Safety
Our PTA cares about the safety of the students at Bonneville!
Health Week
A few years ago we transitioned from Red Ribbon Week and Green Ribbon Week to Health Week so that we could broaden our focus.
Health Week encourages the students to pledge to be drug free, choose to eat healthier, to stay active, and to keep a positive mental attitude.
You can help coordinate and run health week, simply contact us at BonnevillePTAorem@gmail.com.
Classroom Emergency Preparedness Kits
Each classroom at Bonneville has an emergency kit to be used in case of chemical spills, intruders, or other situation in which it may be necessary for students to be in the classroom for extended periods of time. These bags contain small items such as water, granola bars, hard candies, flashlights, band aids, etc. You can help us keep these bags current by donating supplies or money.
NOVA
PTA supports our 6th graders by helping to pay for the NOVA program.
The N.O.V.A. Principles program teaches powerful & comprehensive principles-based decision making that goes far beyond other prevention and education programs. The curriculum includes lessons that help youth and parents deal with Drugs, Gangs, Accountability, Making Good Choices, Anger Management, Internet Safety, Self Esteem, Bullying, and Media issues.
Maturation Assembly
All 5th grade students are invited to participate in the Maturation assembly ... parents are invited too!
The maturation assembly is a school program that PTA helps fund.
Hearing & Vision Screening
You can support Bonneville by signing up to help out with Hearing & Vision screenings. These are typically done in the Fall.
Teacher & School Personnel Support
We have some terrific faculty at Bonneville! Bonneville PTA works to coordinate efforts to support our teachers and other faculty/staff through classroom & grade level grants, teacher recognition awards, SEP luncheons, and more. There are a variety of ways you can show your support to faculty and staff at Bonneville. If you have other ideas of how we can support our faculty and staff, please email BonnevillePTAorem@gmail.com and let our PTA know!
Room Parents
Having a room parent in each classroom helps teachers feel supported, gives us an opportunity to share some if their tremendous work load and is a great way to build relationships with the fantastic teachers at Bonneville.
Our PTA works hard to make sure that each teacher at the school has a room parent. Room parent responsibilities largely depend on the needs of the teacher, but normally include things like coordinating field trip chaperones, decorating the teacher door for Teacher Appreciation Week, helping with class parties, and similar things. Room parents keep in close contact with their teacher to help communicate needs to the other parents.
Email us at BonnevillePTAorem@gmail.com to get more information or to express interest in serving as a room parent.
SEP Luncheons
We like to provide dinner for our teachers on one of the SEP meeting days (typically held in October and February). These are long days for our teachers!
Email us at BonnevillePTAorem@gmail.com to help coordinate the meal, provide food, or help in another way.
Teacher Appreciation Week
We love our teachers and want them to feel the support of Bonneville families. Each year, toward the end of the school year, we host a week of activities and treats to express appreciation. Email BonnevillePTAorem@gmail.com to see how you can help out.
Teacher Appreciation Week will be held March 28-April 1, 2022.
Other
There are other ways you can support teachers at Bonneville. Watch the monthly newsletter for supplies they could use in class. Or, email BonnevillePTAorem@gmail.com if you are interested in helping with things like birthday recognition, spotlights, etc.
Painless Fundraising
We work very hard as a PTA to raise money for our programs without putting a financial burden on Bonneville Families. If you have ideas of other painless ways to raise money, please email your ideas to BonnevillePTAorem@gmail.com.
Box Tops
We raise approximately $500 a year by collecting Digital Box Tops. This is a great source of revenue because it costs the families in our neighborhood nothing! Download the APP on your phone today!
Family Restaurant Nights
Take the family out for dinner to a local participating restaurant and PTA will get a % of the sales. Last year, we made over $1,000 from these restaurant nights!
Clothing Drive
We gather used clothing and other fabric goods from the community and sell that clothing to Savers for 20 cents per pound. Those clothes are donated to charitable organizations and used for humanitarian aid. Last year, we earned over $900 from your clothing donations.
AmazonSmile Program
If you place your regular Amazon order through Amazon Smile using this link, a percentage of your order comes back to Bonneville!
Thompson Orthodontics
Thompson Orthodontics will send us $1 for each "3" or "4" earned on your student's report card! Simply download your student's report card from skyward, then email it to ThompsonReportCards@gmail.com with "Bonneville Elementary" in the subject line. Report cards must be from the most recent term & submitted within 1 month from the end of term. Thompson Orthodontics will not contact you or add you to any lists. If it makes you more comfortable, you can cross out any personal information before emailing (please don’t cross out the name of the school). You can get more information at their website: www.WadeThompsonOrtho.com. This is a great way to raise money for our school without costing families a penny. We appreciate Thompson Orthodontics for giving back to the community!
