Join the lab

If you want to learn about bacterial genetics there are a few ways to joining the lab. Check out the different options below and reach out so we can discuss which is best for you. You can expect to read a lot, learn molecular biology techniques, and receive one on one mentoring.

1. Enroll in BIOL496. You can earn credit towards your degree, fulfill the research requirement and gain experience collaborating with me and other lab members on a project of your own. You can find information about it here. This is typically done during the academic year and preferably starting during your junior year.

2. Apply for the SURE fellowship. This is a student lead summer, research project that you apply for in order to receive a stipend for working full time on your own project in the lab. Check out the requirements and application here. This is done in consultation with me, so contact me if you are interested in pursuing this opportunity so you can start the proposal.

3. Not sure you want to commit yet but are interested, you can volunteer. Email me so we can discuss how you can get some experience.
