The famous and imposing lions are amongst the very largest of the Bo'ness figures and include glass-eyed, standing and recumbent examples.
The mantel or wally dogs, both sitting and standing are ever popular. They have both glass and painted eyes.
The dogs were manufactured in the largest numbers and variety of all the Bo'ness animals.
Some of the rarest, and now most pricey Bo'ness animals, feature in this category.
As is the case with the majority of Bo'ness figures, they were originally intended for display as matching pairs.
This grouping lists some of the more exotic and now rare animal figures.
Included here are bears, parrots, cockerels, horses and elephants.
Buffalo Bill and Annie Oakley on horseback were registered by the Bridgeness Pottery of Bo'ness. They vary in both form and colour.
There's been conjecture about exactly who these figures depict, but a little research should dispel any doubts.
Not every figure is easy to identify.
Some pieces are attributed as Bo’ness when they aren’t, while it's not unusual for genuine Bo’ness figures to be incorrectly identified as of Staffordshire manufacture.
There are also known reproductions.
