Our season is made up of two parts:
Pre Season: teams are drafted or (in later seasons) redrafted.
Regular Season: league matches and friendly matches.
Post Season: playoffs and championship.
Blood Bowl Wednesdays, after work at Battlegrounds Saugus is intended to be our 'main' day for playing League Matches & Friendlies. However we are totally flexible, since not everyone can make that day! Any day is fine. Some people exclusively play on different days.
For a fresh team, the starting team treasury is set at 1,000,000 gold pieces.
Coaches are able to draft fresh teams up the starting player allowance.
Teams can be drafted according to their team rules.
Teams from previous seasons may also redraft, per redraft rules (pg 99 ruleobook), to a treasury cap of 1.3M treasury. Note that this 1.3M is not TV, but treasury. Players get that play multiple seasons will ask for more treasury to hire them back (despite their TV not going up). Just like real life!
Once the season starts, this will be the 'main' part of the season: League Matches! Players will be matched up for one match every two weeks. Ideally taking place on Blood Bowl Mondays, players will be able to schedule their opponent for a match. Other times are totally fine, as long as the league match gets played during the two week period.
All Special Play cards
If after two halves of 8 rounds each, the game will end in a draw.
After a league match, each coach will choose three players on their team. One of those players will be randomly selected to win the MVP award: 4 spp (star player points).
Win: 3 points
Draw: 1 point
Loss: 0 points
There may be times where we have an odd number of coaches to schedule matches for. In this case, one coach will be assigned a match against the BoMBBL Joker. This match can be scheduled with any other coach playing as the Joker and is played with the same rules as Regular Season Matches except with the following caveats:
The Joker is not limited to a specific team but rather is drafted for their specific match. The Joker's team can be any team that would be legal to draft during this season (or if both players agree, potentially something spicier like a more valuable team, a team with a star player, or some players having skills).
While the Joker's players don't carry over from match to match and don't gain SPP, the Joker still needs make sure to track events that would normally be entered into Tourplay, such as Touchdowns, Casualties, Injuries, Fouls, Send-Offs, and Completions. Let Cody know via Discord in either the #bombbl league channel or via DM @cowether so that he can start and end the match on Tourplay and enter the game events after the match ends.
The non-Joker coach may need to record their three MVP choices and let Cody know what they were if he isn't available to hit the finish match button for the Joker Tourplay account at the end of the match.
If no one is able to step up as the BoMBBL Joker for a season match, we'll figure something out.
Written into the Blood Bowl rules (Rulebook pg 97), Official 'Friendlies' are highly encouraged for coaches. These are also recommended to happen on Blood Bowl Mondays. Here, two coaches can get another game in with their league team that will have an impact. No league points (TBD) or MVP is awarded, but everything else is in play! Get your players SPP! Get those $ winnings! Injure the other team! Have fun!
Coaches are allowed one Official 'Friendly Match' per 2-week period in the regular season. For even more Blood Bowl, definitely feel free to do unoffical (no impact on league team's progression) matches.
None. All eyes are on league matches, so teams have been known to try whatever inducements they can get their hands on!
If after two halves of 8 rounds each, the game will end in a draw.
No MVP's are awarded during Friendlies. (All other spp will be awarded as normal).
No league points are awarded for Friendlies.
Everyone makes playoffs!
There is a knockout tournament.
There is a also built-in consolation tournament (which is not knockout) -- the Little Chungus Memorial (LCM) Cup.
This means that (not counting byes) everyone will play all the rounds!
Everyone plays all (not counting byes) playoff rounds, even if you're knocked out of the running for champion.
The top 4 teams will play 2 games for 1-4th place as Season Champion.
Everyone other team plays in the LCM Cup.
As teams get knocked out of the championship they're added into the Little Chungus Memorial Cup.
The final two rounds are played at the same time as the Championship.
See our schedule page.
Teams are seeded by league points (W:3 D:1 L:0).
If there are divisions: Teams will be seeded by divisions (1 is highest) and then league points. This is to make it so the highest ranked teams are more likely to face each other at the very end, to make for an exciting finale!
During playoffs (but not consolation), there are no ties! If the score is tied at the end of Turn 16 you go to overtime. Toss a coin and the winner chooses to kick or receive. A touchdown immediately ends the game. If the teams are still tied after 8 turns then the kicking team is considered the winner. Sudden death!
In overtime, you do NOT get team rerolls replenished! Just like in real life, sports teams get tired- you take what rerolls you had at the end of the 2nd half with you.
After a league match, each coach will choose three players on their team. One of those players will be randomly selected to win the MVP award: 4 spp (star player points).
Good luck!
At the end of the season, there will be prizes and awards!
So far it's the standard rules. (Page 99 of the rulebook).
In addition to a championship trophy, a full list of awards for the season will later be determined.
Blood Bowl is a game that isn't about the players, but the team. Dyansties may rise and fall. Players need to get developed for future seasons.
Between the championship and the start of the next season, coaches can either:
Bring their current team into the next season via redraft!
(See page 99 of the rulebook.)
Form a brand new team, per season starting treasury allowance.
