Jaguar wheel nuts feature a two-piece design consisting of a solid steel nut with a flat seat, covered by a thin decorative "tin cap" crimped into a recess at the base. Over time, moisture creeps into this crimped joint, causing the steel underneath to rust and expand. As rust builds up beneath the surface, the outer cap swells, deforms, and bulges out of shape. This swelling turns into a nightmare the moment you get a flat tyre. The factory wheel brace supplied in your Jaguar's boot is engineered to fit a brand-new, unswollen nut. When the cap swells, your standard wheel brace or socket will no longer fit over it, leaving you completely stranded on the side of the road.
