Founded in 2015, Champion Speech and Debate has over 50 members, and works to empower students in the community to use their voices and improve their speaking, research, and writing abilities. CHS has one of the strongest teams in Central Texas, sending numerous qualifiers each year to high-level tournaments, such as TFA State, UIL State, and NSDA Nationals. CHS is also one of the most rapidly expanding programs in the area, quadrupling our membership in the last 4 years.
Students compete in tournaments on Saturdays in a variety of speech and debate events that grow their argumentation, writing, articulation, presentation, and impromptu skills. Events include Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Policy Debate, Public Forum Debate, World Schools Debate, Student Congress, Foreign Extemporaneous Speaking, Domestic Extemporaneous Speaking, Prose, Poetry, Original Oratory, Program Oral Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, Humorous Interpretation, and Duo Interpretation (for more information visit the 'Events' page).
