Opor Ayam is a classic Indonesian dish of tender chicken simmered in a rich, creamy coconut sauce. A much-loved dish during celebrations and family gatherings, it’s traditionally served with steamed rice or rice cakes, but is just as comforting for an everyday meal at home. With BoemBloc, you can make this comforting classic with less prep.
1 Boembloc Koenir
500-800 g chicken
100 ml coconut milk
600 ml water
1. Put the chicken, Boembloc, 70 ml coconut milk and water in a pan. Cover and cook over medium-high heat for 10 minutes.
2. Remove the lid and stir to blend the flavors. Lower the heat to a gentle simmer. Cover the pan again and cook for another 25 to 30 minutes, until the chicken is tender.
3. Add the remaining 30 ml coconut milk and stir gently. Turn off the heat and serve warm.
Topped with crispy fried onions and spring onions, enjoy with warm rice or rice cakes and your favorite sambal for a little kick.
