Chris Lewer is an international holistic chef, former restaurateur, speaker, and cultural explorer. Chris’s passions for food, travel and culture have taken him on a journey spanning the globe. His background of recipes and cooking style comes from his unique first hand knowledge gained by immersing himself in kitchens and cultures around the world.
Chris’s nutritional and educational journey began in his family’s restaurant in New Jersey but at 21 he found himself studying Ayurveda Nutrition in both North and South India, traveling Europe and working in kitchens in Istanbul, diving deep in Italian cuisine (his specialty) while exploring Italy and its coastlines, engaging the colorful nourishment of Central American dishes, learning the culinary herbs and spices of Thai and Indonesian flavors. During these culinary explorations around the world Chris had taken over his family’s restaurant as co-owner/head chef and soon opened an equally successful second restaurant. After a decade of ownership, it was time to move on from the restaurants and Chris transplanted himself in Vancouver to join Ashley and Body By Design Holistic Wellness to step out of the kitchen and share his knowledge.
With twenty years of experience working in fast paced kitchens, Chris has worked to simplify recipes while maximizing the natural organic essence of the foods. Chris’s cooking lessons will help you to discover better health and healing whether you are vegan, plant based, vegetarian, pescatrian, or omnivore.
Having been plant based/vegan for over 20 years, Chris specializes in plant based non-dairy holistic meals and can help share or create healthy delicious alternatives for you. Although plant based Chris has extensive knowledge cooking sustainably harvested fish, local farm eggs and ethical meats and discusses ways to cook and prepare your meals healthier.
