Over the past thirteen plus years of study in the fitness industry, I have found that my passion and life’s purpose lies within rehabilitation and optimal wellness. While most personal trainers focus purely on aesthetics; how their clients “look”, my goal is to get my clients not only looking good but also feeling confident, strong, energetic, and healthy! When I can help my clients achieve optimal wellness: mind, body and spirit, their success rate achieving and maintaining their ideal physique is permanent and life changing.

My passion for travel combined with my insatiable hunger for knowledge in the field of rehabilitation and movement therapy, has lead me around the world in search of new perspectives, from my home country of Canada to Thailand, Las Vegas, India, and now Seattle. Each time I advance my education I come out feeling refreshed and excited about my life’s path.

To my dismay, my greatest learning lessons have come from my own personal injuries. The first big rehabilitation-learning lesson came in September 2008 when I was a passenger, side swiped in a motor vehicle collision, that left me with temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder and thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) (a painful jaw and shoulder injury) to the right side of my body. These “rehabilitation lessons” compounded over the years. In February 2009 I was injured with a whiplash injury when a large car reversed into me. My injuries were exacerbated again in October 2012, when my vehicle collided with an alcohol-impaired driver.

With rehabilitation training, yoga therapy, and guidance from some of the most knowledgeable physiotherapists in the region, I was able to overcome my injuries, and attain and surpass my pre-accident fitness condition. I had returned to an active lifestyle of hiking one to two times per week, weight training four days per week, and a daily practice of yoga therapy and meditation. I was physically soaring!

I was guided to the Feldenkrais Method when I was unfortunately rear-ended again last year on October 27, 2015. The injuries I sustained from this single motor vehicle collision were nothing that I had ever experienced in all three of the previous accidents. I sustained damage to both my upper cervical spine and the lumbar-scaral junction of my vertebrae. The disc damage at my lumbar spine was causing nerve root impingement that resulted in sciatic nerve pain, urinary incontinence, pelvic floor pain, and lower back pain. The concussion I sustained, along with the nerve impingement in my upper cervical spine was causing daily migraines, stuttering, loss of memory, and also blurred vision and temporary blindness to my left eye. I was in chronic pain, desperate for relief. Unfortunately, the previous methods of rehabilitation were not working for my body, as they only seemed to aggravate my injuries. Desperate for answers, I stumbled upon the Feldenkrais Method.

Within just a couple of lessons, I was able to relax my muscles enough to experience a momentary bit of relief. By incorporating the Feldenkrais Method into my daily rehabilitative activities I was able to partake in my previous rehabilitative exercises and feel results! I was sold, and I needed to learn more! If this method could do so much for me, I needed to find out more so I could not only help myself, but also integrate this into my practice and help the people deemed “unhelpable”.

Two years ago, I was accepted into the four-year Feldenkrais Method Certification Diploma to continue my journey for constant growth and development as an active rehabilitative wellness practitioner.

Having suffered through my own battles with injuries, chronic, pain and even temporary blindness, nothing brings me more joy than witnessing the dramatic transformations of my clients, from chronic pain and weakness to confident, strong, mobile and liberated.
