JROTC is a Leadership and Character Development program.
"The curriculum is facilitated and taught by retired Army personnel. Qualified retired Army personnel are employed by the schools to teach the JROTC curriculum. JROTC teacher qualifications are based on military experience, maturity, stability, and leadership acquired over 20 years of service to our nation. To safeguard the viability of the JROTC program, the Department of Defense (DoD) and the Department of Education endorse the proposition that states recognize that JROTC instructors are certified to teach JROTC and the array of subject areas embedded (e.g., Physical Education, Health/Wellness, Civics, etc
At BCHS we expect all students to challenge themselves academically by selecting rigorous courses and developing their leadership and social character by getting actively involved in JROTC and other extracurricular activities at school. Instruction focuses on student centered learning in a structured environment. We try to engage students in their creativity and can lead to industry certification in a high needs workforce field. . Through participation cadets are able to get a deeper understanding of the subjects and how they may apply what they have learned to real world situations. We teach our students that they must look out for their future and take advantage of all opportunities that will take them where they want to go in life.
