From 4.3 though the client tools use 64bit architecture, meaning there is only one set of ODBC connections or one install of Oracle client software to worry about. One Oracle home and path. One niche database driver to find. Now Webi RC, the IDT and UDT, and SAP Crystal Reports can all access as much memory as they need, or as the local machine has to give. Now the only limit is with your IT department or laptop budget!

In the company I work for, there are many users for Business Objects Reports and BO client tools. Since the platform version and the client tools version must match, we have to use different sets of machines to test, and then coordinate for over 100 users on installs of the client tools to match the platform.

While testing in our development branch, users/developers would be unable to use the tools on their PC for the production branch because of the version mismatch. This would cause a significant hindrance in the workload because users with the new version would not be able to connection to the development machines, likewise the users with the old version would not be able to connect to the production machines.

Install these applications for users responsible for managing BusinessObjects Enterprise content, developing applications, or importing system data. Client tools are not needed by users who access InfoView or the CMC administrative web applications.

To create the BO Objects like UDT/IDT etc.. we need to install the BI Client tools (SAP BO BI Platform) in client machine first . Well in majority of companies all these installation process might be done by either a Basis/BO admin, but in few firms you will need to do this on your own.

Please refer SAP Note 2475660 [Pre-requisites for BI Platform SP04 to work with Add-ONs and client tools] before downloading BI 4.2 SP04 software packagesSAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform 4.2General InformationSAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence (BI) platform provides flexible systems management for an enterprise BI standard that allows administrators to confidently deploy and standardize their BI implementations on a proven, scalable, and adaptive service-oriented architecture. You can find BI 4.2 new capabilities in the What's New in BI 4.2 guide. The documentation for all released versions of BI Platform can be found in the SAP Help Portal.

SAP BusinessObjects Business Intelligence Platform 4.2 can be installed as a new installation or as an in-place upgrade of an existing SBOP BI 4.1 installation. You will find the installation package of the latter scenario in the 'Support Packages and Patches' section. Please note the new SBOP BI 4.x server components are 64-bit software components while SAP BusinessObjects XI 3.1 and earlier versions were 32-bit software components. The SBOP BI 4.x client tools remain 32-bit applications.

General purpose tools include a light weight business object framework, an easy to use SQL client library, a .NET integration library, JSON and XML serializers, a Markdown parser, a powerful FoxPro based text scripting engine, and a number of very rich generic utility libraries for common every day FoxPro tasks.

Rich Web HTTP Access from FoxPro

Need to retrieve Web content in your applications? Retrieve Web page content for screen scraping, talk to REST, XML or other Web Service APIs, submit and drive Web based forms and send JSON, XML or binary data from client to server and back. Send URLEncoded POST data to servers, upload files via HTTP, access secure TLS/SSL content, automatically handle authenticated, utf-8 and gzip encoded content. Best of all it's very easy to use with an easy to use API.

Json Service Client - Simplified REST Service Calls

If you need to interact with REST Services the wwJsonService client provides a high level abstraction for calling Web Services and serializing and deserializing data with an easy to use interface that handles the HTTP semantics, text encoding, JSON serialization and error handling.

FTP and SFTP - Transfer files

New updated wwFTP class allows for file downloads and uploads. Low and high level methods for simple transfers and control over the connection are supported. Use active and passive FTP. The tools also support SFTP (SSH over SSH).

Use the tools you already know: Write FoxPro code for your Web application logic and use the Visual FoxPro IDE to edit, run and debug your code. Set breakpoints, break on errors, and use your existing FoxPro business logic code.

To install some or all of the Eclipse tools, get an installation compatible with the desired tools and use the respective software site URL in the Help > Install New Software wizard. Based on the version of your eclipse:

The SAP BTP SDK for the Neo environment includes platform API JARs, a local runtime for testing, documentation, samples, and the Neo console client. The Cloud Foundry Plugins for SAP BTP are used to extend the Cloud Foundry CLI with additional commands.  Service Fabrik based B&R - Perform backup and restore operations on service-instances  PostgreSQL Migration Service - Migrate PostgreSQL db to PostgreSQL, hyperscaler option  Custom Domain Self-service  - Manage TLS server certificates and client authentication trust for custom domains   For more information, on how to install the plugins see the documentation.

Use the btp CLI for account administration on SAP BTP. The btp CLI is only available for global accounts on feature set B (for example, SAP BTP Trial accounts).  Download the matching client for your system from the table below Extract the client executable from the tar.gz archive Linux: Use the terminal to extract the tar.gz archive with tar -vxzf  macOS: Open the tar.gz file with a double click  Windows: Use powershell to extract the tar.gz archive with tar -vxzf    Run btp from within the extracted folder or ensure that it's in your PATH.

For more info, see Account Administration using btp CLI.

If you want to try out the tools without having access to an ABAP server, you can run your own using the ABAP Platform Trial, a docker image containing an ABAP application server running on top of the SAP HANA 2.0 database and SAP Cloud Connector.

You can pull the entire image from docker hub and create a docker container from it, see ABAP Platform Trial on Docker. For more details refer to this blog.

The SAP HANA Client provides a set of drivers that developers can use to connect client applications to SAP HANA. SAP HANA Client 2.0 drivers connect to SAP HANA 1.0 and SAP HANA 2.0 databases as described in SAP Note 1906576.

The SAP BTP SDK for Android provides native libraries and development tools for creating native Android mobile applications that use SAP Mobile Service. The SDK is based on the Java programming language and is built on top of Google's Android SDK. Kotlin is fully supported and can be used to build applications using the SDK. This SDK focuses on application development with a "device to back-end" view instead of only client-side libraries. The tools in the SDK are specifically designed to help you quickly develop the framework for enterprise apps so that you can focus on implementing your business logic. The SDK ships with an Android Studio plugin called the SAP BTP SDK Wizard for Android. This Wizard generates a ready-to-run Android studio project that uses APIs from most of the components in the SDK.

The column is grayed out to reflect that it is hidden to reporting clients that consume the model. Hidden columns are grayed out in the model to indicate their state, but remain visible in the Data View so that you can continue to work with them.

Learn how the Business Intelligence Consumer Services (BICS) connection works internally, and connects Business Explorer (BEx) Queries to SAP BusinessObjects 4.1 client tools. Key Concept Business Intelligence Consumer Services (BICS) is an optimized data access protocol used within SAP systems. It connects SAP BW Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) sources, such as BEx Queries and InfoProviders,...

I have used the above method for installing XI R2 client tools, works quite well and can speed up the installs. From memory, a silent installation of just the Universe Designer component took only 20 minutes.

NOTE: The subject matter in this topic can have many moving parts and is not meant to be a direct comparison to traditional BI or other data visualization tools. It is an expression of my experiences when first working with Qlik and meant to inform those who might have similar expectations when comparing Qlik to other BI tools.

Now proceed through the rest of the wizard by clicking on Continue, and click on Ok when done. You have now added a User / System Data Source Name entry, which can be used by third party BI clients.

When you create the folder structure for the downloads just write them the old way "c:\oraclient". Then when you unzip the basic, SDK and instant Client install for Windows 10_x64 extract them to "C:\oraclient\", because they all write to the same default folder. Then, when you set the ENV variable (which is no longer ORACLE_HOME, but now is OCI_LIB64) and the PATH, you will point to "C:\oraclient\instantclient_18_3". 2351a5e196
