*Calm Room: The Calm Room is a designated space intentionally structured to help students take a break, defuse anger, and re-center outside of the classroom. It can be used for prevention to deescalate emotions or anxiety before one gets too overwhelmed. The calm room allows students to access various tools and techniques to combat anxiety or daily stress. In this space, students should be able to independently gain a sense of safety and grounding to regulate their emotions and moods. The goal is to allow a student to return to class sooner, ready to learn and engage in relationships in a healthier way.
Students are allowed a maximum of 15 minutes in the Calm Room. However, they may be granted more time at the counselor's/administrator's discretion.Â
