AP art 2020

congratulations!

These 7 talented BMHS AP art and design students scored either a four or a five on their AP portfolio. 2020 was a particularly difficult year as AP revamped the portfolio requirements, scoring the students on their writings about their work as well as their art, and it was finished at home during a pandemic! These students had so much creativity, intelligence and grit! They deserved their top scores.

arabel gibson created characters , built worlds and told stories. 2020 (primarily using colored pencil)

benjamin leisher explored expressive self portraits using the allegory of space. 2020. (primarily charcoal)

em johns used her friends as models for her portraits about the transient nature of life (charcoal and ink)

fatima morales made crowns, wigs and thinking caps to show case her creativity 2020 (paper, reed, cardboard, wire and tissue),

gabrielle klatt created ceramic sculptures, inspired by the japanese phiosophy of wabi sabi, of celebrating what is broken

leilani jurado created still lifes drawing abondoned toys and they recontextualizing them in the spaces they were left. so clever! (colored pencil and photography)

rebekkah dekok added layers to bring more meaning and visual interest to her self portraits. 2020 (primarily using charcoal with found objects)
