At our last CSPC meeting held on June 18, 2025, parents asked about the Bishop Macdonell CSPC bylaws review. We have reached out to TCDSB for guidance.
While we value diversity on the council, the bylaws do not allow us to require representation from specific grades—positions are filled through open elections - already scheduled for September 24 at 6:30 PM. We encourage all parents to participate as candidates and voters. Non-voting parents are also welcome to attend meetings to ensure a broad range of voices are heard.
To address specific concerns, such as those from parents of senior students, we can utilize existing standing committees, like Equity and Inclusion, or create a Parent Class Representatives Subcommittee, as permitted by Article XII of our bylaws. No bylaw amendment is needed for this.
Thank you for your continued engagement and support.

Prepare the details of your request, including the purpose, amount, and supporting documentation (e.g., invoices, quotes).
Email the CSPC Chair (CSPC.bishopmacdonell@tcdsb.org) with details of your funding request, including purpose and amount, at least one week before a scheduled CSPC meeting.
During the meeting, a voting member makes a motion by stating, "I move that..." followed by the specific proposal.
Another voting member seconds the motion to show it is worthy of consideration.
The council discusses the motion, allowing members to ask questions or suggest amendments.
A vote is held. Approval requires a majority of voting members present.
All decisions, votes, and financial activities are recorded in the meeting minutes for transparency.
All payments are made via cheques, which require 2 (two) signatures: one CSPC executive (Treasurer or Chair) and the Principal.
For amounts over $5,000, approval is also needed from the Vice Principal or Superintendent.
Regular financial reports are presented and approved at each CSPC meeting, following TCDSB financial procedures.
