CLASS DESCRIPTION
Spinning Shapes (Intermediate) with Blu
Class description: This class will focus on spin techniques, transitions and shapes. We will work on building controlled spins and transitions, and explore all the twisty, splitty and bendy shapes from our leg hangs, pole sits and more. The objective of this class is to support with developing your tricks/shapes vocabulary so you can work on putting your own sequence together.
Prerequisite: You will need to have your invert (aerial inverts are better, but ground inverts are fine too), solid climbs, inverted crucifix, and leg hangs.
Examples of moves taught: jade split variations, broken doll, ballerina variations, teddy variations, and a ton of shapes from brass monkey hook!
Pole Beginner/Intermediate Fundamentals with Blu
Class description: This class will focus on developing the strength, endurance and flexibility needed for higher level moves. We will work on taking our spins and shapes off the floor and start combining moves on the floor, as well as aerially (no more than 2 aerial transitions). We will also expand on different grips on the pole.
Prerequisite: You will need to have your basic pole sit, jasmine, genie, *some* basic baseball grip spins on the ground, climbing will be a great asset (but we can also workshop your climbs!).
Examples of moves taught: leg hangs, aerial jasmine/genie, apprentice, inverts, inverted crucifix, aerial invert preps, etc.
Pole Intermediate Fundamentals with Blu
Class description: This class will focus on developing the strength, endurance and flexibility needed for aerial sequences. We will work on more challenging transitions both from the floor and aerially (no more than 3 aerial transitions). In this class, we will also start exploring inverted shapes as well as different types of grip for inversions.
Prerequisite: You will need to have your invert from the floor (aerial invert is a plus - but we can also workshop aerial inverts!), solid climbs, leg hangs & aerial jasmine.
Examples of moves taught: brass monkey, shoulder mount, foot mount, table top invert, split grip air walks, inverted D, etc.
Pole Free Flow with Jay
Class description: #FreeFlow (Exotic pole dance) is a style that combines moves around the pole, low flow, floor work and pole tricks. This style is mainly focused on learning transitions and a choreographed routine. The tricks are a flavorful addition to this. We concentrate on musicality, the beauty and execution of the moves to complete the full image of the choreography. This class combines sensuality, power and emotion with dance to help you tap into yourself and build self confidence. To dance FREELY!
Please provide adequate knee and leg protection. Knee pads, thigh high stockings and leggings are recommended. Heels are also recommended but not required to take this class. If new to heels…please reach out to an instructor for assistance.
Prerequisites: Must have at least 6 months of pole experience. Intermediate level. Must be able to use split grip.
Moves needed: Jasmine, apprentice, basic spins, cup grip, wrist sit, twisted grip, and Leg holds
Examples of moves taught: pole to floor transitions, heel technique, shoulder rolls, shoulder holds, body movement, leg extensions, leg waves, pole assisted elbow stand/handstand transitions
SinFloor Basics with Jay
Class description: Learn Beginner / Beg. Intermediate floorwork in this grounded movement class! We will learn sensual floor sequences that develop body awareness, confidence and self expression. We will fuse dance and acrobatic floor elements to create exotic floorwork combos. Focus is on stability, weight transfers, lines, engagement and fluidity. We will learn about body positioning, using our hands and head movements to create flow. No pole required! Socks are encouraged if you are not wearing heels.
Prerequisite: None! Perfect for beginners new to pole and intermediates who want to improve their exotic floorwork skills!
Equipment: Yoga mat, socks, knee pads, & water
Examples of moves taught: leg work, transitions, body work, shoulder stands, shoulder rolls. Heel technique. Modifications will be available to accommodate student level.
