Twinkle Twinkle RTG
Recorded in 2019 and finished in 2021
“Twinkle Twinkle RTG” which features Darryl “DMC” McDaniels and his son Dson McDaniels, was written and recorded by youth enrolled in the Release the Grip (RTG) program, as part of BronxConnect a violence-prevention partnership with Road Recovery's RoadTrax Program funded by a grant from the Pinkerton Foundation. The “Twinkle Twinkle RTG” release campaign is meant to engender inspiration and resilience. "Twinkle Twinkle RTG" chronicles the life of youth living in the Bronx and their hope for a better life…"one day we’re playing with basketballs, the next day we’re playing with guns.”
The track's release is available through major digital music services at https://ffm.to/twinkletwinklertg including Spotify, iTunes, Amazon Music, Deezer, Tidal and more. The release accompanies this documentary-style promotional video of the recording process as it was completed remotely during the pandemic.
Darryl DMC McDaniels, a musician, father and Road Recovery Board Member, says
