The mission of the Division of Commercial Vehicle Enforcement is to encourage and promote a safe driving environment through education and safety awareness while enforcing State and Federal laws and regulations, placing special emphasis on commercial vehicles. 

The Air Support Unit is a specialized division that utilizes aircraft and helicopters to provide aerial support, enhancing the effectiveness of ground units during law enforcement operations. The Kentucky State Police Air Support Unit is expertly trained to assist in a variety of critical situations, including pursuits, medical evacuations, and search and rescue operations. 

A Canine (K9) officer is a law enforcement professional responsible for handling and deploying police dogs. These highly trained dogs assist in tasks such as detecting drugs, pursuing and capturing suspects, and identifying explosives. 

The mission of the Drug Enforcement and Specialized Investigations Unit is to combat drug and gang-related activities on a statewide scale. This specialized team of highly trained professionals conducts undercover operations to infiltrate and strategically coordinate raids targeting known drug dealers and gang members. 

The mission of the Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) is to thoroughly investigate critical incidents involving law enforcement agencies. This team is responsible for examining officer-involved shootings, use of force incidents, in-custody deaths, and line-of-duty fatalities. Additionally, CIRT is specially trained and certified to investigate other serious crimes, including homicides and robberies.

The Hazardous Device Unit, commonly referred to as the Bomb Squad, is a specialized team focused on the safe disarmament of explosive devices. The Hazardous Devices Unit trains officers to handle explosives, hazardous materials, and weapons of mass destruction, including chemical and biological weapons.  

The Special Response Team is composed of highly trained Troopers skilled in managing high-risk situations, including the execution of search warrants, hostage rescues, and responses to bank robberies. When law enforcement agencies statewide require specialized assistance, they turn to the Kentucky State Police Special Response Team for support.
