Blueberry Fields Cooperative (BFC) was formed in the Spring of 2024 with the intent to purchase Linnhaven Mobile Home Center in Brunswick, Maine.
We, the residents, are invested in and committed to the community in which we chose to purchase our homes. We intend to preserve the status of our housing as a Resident Owned Community (ROC).
“I feel a shift in my own life to feeling more responsible for my neighbors and more connected in this community. I think there will be more and more of that as we move ahead - feels wonderful!”
- Tom K., Blueberry Fields Cooperative Member

We have partnered with the Cooperative Development Institute (CDI) to support us through acquisition, financing, and governance.
Through a program called New England Resident-Owned Communities (NEROC), CDI works with manufactured homeowners to cooperatively purchase and democratically manage their neighborhoods as Resident Owned Communities (ROCs). CDI's expertise is time-tested; they have successfully supported dozens of mobile home communities across New England in converting to resident ownership.

When a mobile home park is up for sale, CDI helps residents use a nationally successful model to form a cooperative business (co-op), get financing to buy the park, and learn how to run it with democratic resident control.
Resident-owned Communities (ROCs) give residents control of the land beneath their homes, protecting the affordability of their housing over time.
