TORONTO
Your Majesty, athletes, esteemed guests, ladies and gentlemen,
As we gather in this vibrant metropolis, we celebrate the prowess of athletes and their spirit which bind us together. The Winter Olympics, set against the backdrop of Quebec’s landscapes embody the spirit of human perseverance and pursuit of excellence. It’s with this spirit that I would like to thank all our athletes that are volunteering and all of those who have made these games possible. I now have the honour to ask His Majesty the King to open the 2024 Quebec Winter Olympic Games.
Sir Richard Thompson, Vice President of the International Olympic Committee

Mr Speaker,
On Fabruary 2024, the Security Service Bill was introduced and failed after concerns arose. I’d like to make one thing clear; I heard you, we heard you. My mission is to keep the country safe and that’s what I am doing. The Home Office has written a new bill that addresses all the existing concerns and even goes far beyond the initial plan. The Intelligence Community bill will establish both the Security Service (MI5) and the Secret Intelligence Service (MI6). Both agencies will be overseen by the National Security Council.
The risks to BUK security are becoming increasingly diverse. It is our aim to protect national security against threats from espionage, voter importation, sabotage, activities of agents of foreign powers or from actions intended to overthrow or undermine parliamentary democracy by political, industrial or violent means.
We need to ensure that the Bloxburg United Kingdom and our allies keep one step ahead of our adversaries. We need to protect BUK’s citizens, economy and interests from any threat.
I urge every member here today to vote AYE for the bill for a safer, more protect world.
Sir Richard Thompson MP, Home Secretary and Member of Parliament for Belfast

Ladies and Gentlemen,
As I stand here today at the Olympic Stadium, I can’t believe the honour I have to deliver the first speech. Today, we celebrate the beginning of the Olympic Games in Quebec, and I hope that this first Olympic Games will set the bar, set a precedent for future Olympic Games. I want to personally wish the best luck to the Olympians moving forward, and I hope that everyone here enjoys the Olympic Games. Thank you, merci.
Sir Richard Thompson, Vice President of the International Olympic Committee
