A month later, on September 4, 2021, Prime Minister Donovan Moore carried out a mini-reshuffle of his cabinet, making Richard Thompson the new Chancellor of the Exchequer. Both, the Business Fair and the Business of the Month awards, have continued to this day, reflecting the success of its creation. He made a lot of achievements as Chancellor of the Exchequer. In fact, Thompson created the strongest and most stable economy in the Bloxburg community. BUK was the country with the most active registered businesses when he was Chancellor. He was widely regarded as one of the most hardworking members of the Moore administration. However, he was dismissed due to an investigation conducted by the Parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee. The report was full of misinformation and lies. As consequence, he retired from politics for a while.
On 23 June 2023, Thompson returned to Parliament, this time as the Member of Parliament for Belfast. He became a notable conservative backbencer. Some months later, on 10 September 2023, Thompson returned to Cabinet and was appointed Home Secretary by Donovan Moore.
Early in his term, the Joint Forces were abolished as the recently reestablished Metropolitan Police Service took prominence. He later established the MI5 and MI6 and created the International Criminal Police Organisation (Interpol).
