What is Transpersonal Psychotherapy?

Also referred to as spiritual psychotherapy, this holistic, Eastern-influenced approach to therapy considers the mind-body connection in the therapeutic process and treats the whole person by addressing the client's mental, physical, social, emotional, creative, and intellectual needs in order to promote deeper and sustained healing.

In my work with clients, I treat the whole person by using a blend of somatic trauma therapy, breathwork, shamanic journeying and guided imagery, inner child healing, mindfulness and compassion, and meditation. In addition to the somatic trauma treatment models called the Comprehensive Resource Model® (CRM) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I also am IFS-informed and use Internal Family Systems with clients. In my work with couples, I use Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT).

At its inception, transpersonal psychotherapy focused on altered states of consciousness, states that were largely achieved through the use of psychedelics such as psilocybin. In the future once I'm licensed as an LMFT, my goal is to become Certified in Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies and Research by the California Institute of Integral Studies, as I wholeheartedly believe in the power of psychedelics combined with psychotherapy to help heal society's countless mind-body dis-eases.
