I believe, as Dr. Gabor Maté explains, that 'trauma is not what happens to you; it is what happens inside you as a result of what happens to you.' The dis-ease we face collectively stems from our 'severed belonging'—disconnection from ourselves, each other, and the Earth. Humans are wired for connection, and our survival depends on the quality of our emotional bonds, or 'the survival of the nurtured.' When these attachments are disrupted, we adopt patterns of disconnection that perpetuate pain and alienation. Healing begins by restoring secure, nurturing connections to reclaim a sense of belonging and balance within ourselves and the world.
