In partnership with, the Bloomfield Public Library, the Bloomfield Township Council and Mayor Ted Gamble, the Kiwanis Club of Bloomfield helped get kids ready for a productive and successful new school year at the Mayor’s annual Backpack Giveaway, held at Felton Field. Kiwanis members donated notebooks, pencils, folders, among other “most needed” school supplies. Backpacks with donated school supplies were distributed to over 50 students and vendors provided free ice cream treats to everyone!
Special thanks goes to member Maureen Mullane who spearheaded the project for our Club, communicating with township leaders and Kiwanis member as well as coordinating all the Kiwanis donations.

For the fourth year in a row, the Kiwanis Club of Bloomfield rewarded graduates of the Summer Reading program at a Bloomfield Library ceremony with Ice Cream sandwiches on August 7th. Thank you to the Library Director and Kiwanis Vice President Holly Belli, Cheryl Locastro, the Children's Services Director, and Bloomfield Fire Dept representatives. This event was held indoors because of the heavy rain that morning, but that did not dampen the spirit or the attendees' achievements. Congrats to the Graduates!
On June 4th, the Kiwanis Club of Bloomfield celebrated the Students Lead Programs (SLP) for outstanding activities and service over the last school year. Representatives from K-Kids, Builders Club, and Key Club got a chance to strut their stuff, describing their activities and accomplishments in the previous academic year to the audience of fellow students, parents, and teachers. From Fundraisers, Clothing and Sock Drives, Food Drives, and so much more, it was an exciting and busy year for our SLPs. Kiwanis rewarded them with an Ice Cream Social held at the BHS cafeteria, which featured ice cream sundaes, chocolate and caramel syrup, sprinkles, cherries, and whipped cream toppings. The club had an excellent turnout of servers who just rolled up their sleeves and served the students with energy. The Key Club pitched in mightily as servers. The enthusiasm and excitement was palpable, and everyone had a good time. Thank you, students, for all you have given back to Bloomfield this year!
On May 7th Bloomfield Kiwanis held their annual raffle and netted another $2,200 for scholarships for deserving High School seniors, Rewards program for Summer Reading, Ice Cream Social and various other programs. The event
at the Town Pub was well attended by the club, over 75% of the club showed up and a great time was had by all. Good food, a couple of adult beverages and best company around made for a very enjoyable and fun evening.
The spirit, the camaraderie, the good vibes was palpable. Best yet, the attendance was bolstered by members of the Caldwell-West Essex Kiwanis and a prospective new member, a former Olympian on the 1992 Swim Team who were happy to join the members.
