# How to Delete Your Account and Data

If you wish to delete your account and all associated data from Echo Trail - Trace & Learn, please follow these simple steps:

## Step-by-Step Account Deletion Guide
### Step 1: Open the Settings Tab
1. **Open the Echo Trail - Trace & Learn app**
2. **Navigate to the Profile tab**:
- At the top of the screen, you'll see tabs: "Ready To Play Challenges", "Build Your Own Challenges", "Reports", and **"Profile"**
- Tap on the **"Profile"** tab (usually the 4th tab)
### Step 2: Tap the Delete Account Button
1. **In the Profile screen**, you'll see various options including:
- User information (your name and email)
- Logout button
- **Delete Account button**
2. **Tap the "Delete Account" button**
### Step 3: Confirm Account Deletion
The app will show you **two confirmation dialogs** to ensure you really want to delete your account:
**First Confirmation Dialog:**
- You'll see a warning message explaining what will be deleted
- Read the warning carefully
- Tap **"⚠️ Yes, I understand"** to proceed, or **"❌ Cancel"** to abort
**Second Confirmation Dialog (Final Warning):**
- You'll see a final warning message
- This is your last chance to cancel
- Tap **"🗑️ DELETE ACCOUNT"** to confirm deletion, or **"❌ Cancel"** to abort
### Step 4: Wait for Deletion to Complete
1. **A progress dialog will appear** showing "Deleting Account" with a message "Please wait while we delete all your data..."
2. **Wait for the process to complete** (this may take a few moments)
3. The app will automatically:
- Delete all your data from Firebase Firestore (cloud storage)
- Delete all your data from local storage (PaperDB)
- Sign you out from your account
- Navigate you back to the login screen
### Step 5: Account Deletion Complete
Once the deletion is complete:
- You'll see a success message: "Account deleted successfully"
- You'll be automatically redirected to the login screen
- All your data has been permanently deleted

## What Gets Deleted?
When you delete your account, the following data will be **permanently removed**:
✅ **All Tests and Challenges**:
- All custom challenges/tests you created
- All default test progress (if any)
✅ **All Test Reports**:
- All test completion reports
- All accuracy and progress data
✅ **All Custom Words**:
- All custom words you created
- All custom word settings
✅ **All Progress Data**:
- All in-progress test states
- All test progress tracking
✅ **Cloud Data (Firebase Firestore)**:
- All data synced to the cloud
- All data associated with your account
✅ **Local Data (PaperDB)**:
- All data stored on your device
- App preferences and settings
- Subscription information (stored locally)
⚠️ **Note**: Your Google account authentication data (email, display name) is managed by Google and Firebase Authentication. Deleting your account removes the connection between your Google account and our app, but your Google account itself remains active.

- **⚠️ Data Deletion is Permanent**: Once deleted, your data **cannot be recovered**. Please make sure you want to delete everything before proceeding.
- **Subscription**: If you have an active premium subscription, you should cancel it through Google Play Store **before** deleting your account:

3. Find "Echo Trail - Trace & Learn"
