In addition to my teaching experience, I also had the opportunity to visit some beautiful places in the Philippines, such as Iloilo City, Eco Park, and Panay Island, Capiz. The visit to Iloilo City gave me an insight into urban life in the Philippines, with its unique colonial architecture and bustling city atmosphere. Meanwhile, the trip to Eco Park was a refreshing experience, where I could enjoy the beauty of nature and learn more about environmental conservation efforts. In addition to the tour, I also participated in a traditional cooking activity with SEA Teacher students and science interns. We learned traditional Filipino cooking techniques in an open environment with bamboo huts. Using a wood-burning stove, banana leaves as food bases, and plastic gloves, we cooked traditional dishes with guidance from the local community. This activity not only broadened my knowledge of Filipino cuisine but also strengthened my interaction with the local culture. Seeing my colleagues cook enthusiastically and enjoying the results of the cooking together was one of the unforgettable moments of this trip.
One of the most memorable vacation experiences was a visit to Boracay Island, one of the famous tourist destinations in the Philippines. Boracay has soft white sand, crystal clear sea water, and a magnificent sunset view. While there, I enjoyed various activities such as swimming, and walking along the iconic White Beach. In addition, I also tried various delicious local cuisines and enjoyed the lively nightlife on the island. Boracay is truly the perfect place to unwind after a busy internship.
We started our journey by exploring White Beach, the most famous beach in Boracay. As we walked along the coastline, laughter and jokes never stopped accompanying our steps. Some of us immediately ran into the sea, played in the water, and tried sand games. It felt like going back to childhood, where simple happiness came from the waves touching our feet and the refreshing splash of water. A vacation in Boracay is not only about its natural beauty, but also about moments together that bring us closer. Every laugh, story, and adventure we experienced on this island will always be a sweet memory that we will bring home.
Being part of the SEA Teacher program has been a very valuable experience in my academic and professional journey. In this program, I had the opportunity to teach and learn directly at Capiz National High School, a school with a dynamic and inspiring educational environment.
Together with other interns from the science field, we faced various challenges and found many valuable moments. Since the first day, we were warmly welcomed by the teachers and students. They not only helped us adapt to the learning system here but also provided a rich and memorable cultural experience. One of the most interesting things in this experience was teaching students in the science class. I tried to apply interactive and fun learning methods, including group discussions, simple experiments, and educational games. The students showed great enthusiasm in every session, which made me even more motivated to give my best.
In addition to teaching, I also learned a lot from my fellow interns. We often shared teaching experiences and strategies, gave each other feedback, and together found solutions to the challenges we faced in class. This togetherness created a close relationship, not only as colleagues but also as friends on the same journey.
This experience not only enriched my teaching skills but also broadened my knowledge about the education system in another country. I learned about the school culture in the Philippines, different teaching approaches, and how to build effective communication with students from diverse backgrounds. Ending this exchange is a very bittersweet moment for me. I feel grateful for all the experiences I have gone through and all the people I have met. The SEA Teacher Program in Capiz National High School is not just about teaching, but also about learning, growing, and building memories that I will always cherish.
For anyone who has the opportunity to join an exchange program like this, I highly recommend it. This is an experience that will open new horizons and enrich our academic and professional journey as future educators.
