We are a group of young scholars and creatives in the Communication, Media, and Screen Studies program at Southern Connecticut State University. We are working in solidarity with the Movement for Black Lives. Through the lens of our New Haven community, we are engaging with activist efforts against injustice.
While New Haven is a vibrant and diverse melting pot of many ethnicities, races, and cultures, we acknowledge that there is still a lot of work to be done before we can feel right saying that our community provides equal and equitable opportunities and resources for all individuals. Luckily, the New Haven community flaunts a number of artists, activists, and creatives who have taken matters into their own hands to improve racial justice based issues in the area.
Our goal for this project is to highlight the work of these individuals, while connecting our audience to local resources and encouraging them to get involved themselves. Through our collection of narratives, art, and resources, we hope to showcase the amazing work being done by our neighbors, while inspiring others to partake in acts of social justice as well. Furthermore, we have collected a list of organizations and events that provide opportunities for anyone to partake in the movement toward social justice and racial equity and equality in New Haven.
This website serves as a hub of information, think pieces, and activist features that we've collected throughout the semester. Consider this site a road map to being a part of New Haven's social justice movement.
