Once upon a time, in the realm of unexpected beginnings, I found myself stepping into the enchanting world of officiating weddings – a journey sparked by the heartfelt request of one of my graduated athletes. Picture this: a moment of pure emotion, tears streaming down my face as they asked if I would officiate their wedding. Amidst the tears, I mustered a resounding YES!
And so, the tale begins. With a click on an internet-ordained website, the gathering of required documents for Minnesota registration, and just like that – I transformed into an Officiant. No seminary school, no degree in Theological Studies. My educational path had led me to a degree in Management, and my 26 years in public education had bestowed upon me the endearing title of Momma Bear.
In my realm of education, conversations with my "cubs" unveiled nuggets of wisdom and leadership, which I fondly referred to as "Blessings by Bartlett." These were not lectures; they were genuine blessings. While my college degree and professional journey didn't align with traditional officiant paths, I found solace in my connection with Jesus Christ.
The journey to becoming an officiant wasn't a mere click-and-submit for me. Baptized and confirmed in a Lutheran Church, married in a Methodist Church, and deeply rooted in my relationship with Jesus, I felt a calling to infuse meaning into the ceremonies I conducted. Standing before couples, their families, and friends, I wanted each ceremony to be a masterpiece – a reflection of their unique love story.
Research became my trusted companion. Wedding ceremonies, each element dissected with meticulous detail, became my canvas. Whether religious or non-religious, short or long, intimate or grand – every ceremony was crafted with the couple in mind. I couldn't just click a button; my soul demanded a deeper connection.
Blessings by Bartlett emerged not merely from a request but from the genuine joy of helping couples commit to one another. It wasn't about the paperwork; it was about standing wholeheartedly behind every word, creating moments that would resonate with the couple and their loved ones.
In this journey, I've drawn inspiration from my diverse religious background – a tapestry of Lutheran, Methodist, and a profound relationship with Jesus. Each ceremony is a testament to my dedication to making their day uniquely theirs.
And so, the story unfolds. Blessings by Bartlett wasn't just started because a cub asked; it endures because I find joy in being a part of couples' commitment and sharing their love stories with those present. It's a journey of honesty, inspiration, and the profound honor I feel in being an officiant, weaving dreams into reality one ceremony at a time.
