After finishing Do Cherries Grow in Space? in 2024, I still had all the adrenaline and endorphins from that production flowing through my body. I had an itch to keep making that kind of thing. I was doing a lot of sketches of a vampire character in my free moments in hopes of flipping them into another cool film, once again dealing with some things that were weighing on my mind. This time the question was focused on the duality of the self element that I'd mostly left out of the final version of Do Cherries Grow in Space?. If everyone around me demands that I behave in a certain way in order to be with them, then when is it okay to truly express myself?
Originally I was making this video to be a part of a gallery show so I had a soon approaching deadline to meet with this production. I quickly got to storyboarding and came up with the following board. I also came up with different hairstyles and expressions to represent the two sides of the character that the animation would be exploring.
Shot number 07 is the first one that I began to work on. See how it was done in this short process video.
This is the animatic that I ended up with after I'd started putting things into motion. It's pretty cool to see even now. A few things changed between this and the finished video but both are great.
Finally, here's another timelapse of shot 02. I took this one from start to finish in the space of about six hours if I remember correctly. I just flew through this project.
