I direct undergraduate and graduate research projects. Check out the submenus for more information on these opportunities.

My research interests combine parasitology and general ecology. I study the processes that structure parasite communities in aquatic organisms. I also do the reverse and track changes in parasite communities to answer larger questions about ecosystem processes and ecological health. My projects typically involve some combination of field work in critical Florida habitats (Everglades, mangrove swamps, coral reefs, sargassum mats), laboratory-based work (on NSU’s main campus or in partnering labs on our oceanographic campus), and the use of multivariate statistics. Through research partnerships with faculty at NSU and beyond, I have also conducted research on the biocontrol of parasites, parasite-induced host behavior modification, host-parasite interactions, and parasite diversity.
