The mission of Janestead Farm is to cultivate a sustainable and thriving agricultural environment, specializing in pumpkins, and providing our community with fresh, high-quality produce while fostering a deep connection to the land and promoting responsible stewardship for future generations. We are dedicated to enhancing our local ecosystem through innovative farming practices, ensuring that our pumpkins are grown with care and respect for the environment. Additionally, we aim to be a cornerstone of local agriculture, offering educational opportunities and agritourism experiences that celebrate the joy and tradition of pumpkin farming, thereby enriching the lives of our customers and community members.
Janested Farm was originally homesteaded in 1846 by the Janes family. Before coming to Berlin the Janes helped create the town of Janesville Wisconsin. Then when moving to Berlin in 1846 the family bought land from the Mascutin tribe of Indians that lived on the Fox River. Becoming the first white settlers in Berlin, Wisconsin. Berlin was then incorporated just 2 years later in 1848, this was also the same year that Wisconsin became a state. The city of Berlin started rapidly growing because of it services that it provided for its citizens. The many quarries in Berlin provided jobs and a state-wide reputation that brought immigrants from Scotland, Wales, Poland, and Italy to work in those quarries. Some of the Janes family members spent years working in those quarries, helping make them as successful as they are today.

The Carnation Company Berlin, Wi
Berlin also built the first milk condensery company called the Carnation Company due to the massive dairy industry that thrived in Berlin. Our farm became one of the many producers that sold milk to their company. Our farm being one of the last small dairy farms milking about 160 cows in Berlin sold its cows in 2014. Blake and Madison's Pumpkin Patch started the year after the cows were sold when we asked our grandpa who is a 5th generation Janestead Farmer if we could have a little space on the farm for some pumpkins. Deciding to take a chance on his grandchildren, he worked up a quarter of his field for them to start growing pumpkins.
Now we will be in our 4th year with professional Seed after discovering that professional-grade seed grows way better than commercial seed. Now we produce 5-6 thousand pumpkins of 42 different varieties. We've been on this journey for eleven years to create a pumpkin stand and patch experience for you and that is why all of our pumpkins come right from our hearts - Blake & Madison (we hope to see you there)
